I jump onto the lookout’s roof and hide behind a crate. The Rusher didn’t hear me approach, nor will he hear me use one of my Umbric abilities on him. I raise my hand, aim it at him, and Push. The Ascendant doesn’t have time to grasp what’s happening before his body hits the ground. No one notices—yet. |
"Where is Azimov and why is he not on the roof?" "Maybe he got sick? He has very bad vertigo!" “Stay on your guard, and somebody better find him now!” I can’t contain a faint smile. For years, I have been a victim of goons like them. It feels good to have the upper hand for once. I stay hidden and Peek to watch their Shades walk around, inspecting the bushes and looking over their shoulders. Now, I just have to hunt them down, one by one. |

I quietly get off the roof and hide in the bushes. I advance slowly, Peeking to follow the Shade of an Ascendant walking toward Azimov’s body. "Azimov is dead!" "Did he fall? Or did someone push him?" "Hard to say, boss!" “Stay on your guard! I know a Quaestor’s trick when I see one." And just like that, a seed of doubt has been planted in their minds. The Rusher is still barking orders, poking at every bush with his weapon. He’s the most agitated of them all. Does he know what it's like to fight a Quaestor? In any case, I need to get rid of them if I want to get into the hideout. Reika always told me to use my surroundings to my advantage. Good thing the Ascendants always leave dangerous equipment lying around. What if one of them walks too close to that oil lamp over there? If anything, I can always perform my secret technique: Stepping. |
HOW SHOULD HAROONA APPROACH THIS?
