The four Ascendants are still investigating the market, looking for a ghost. They didn’t see me, and I intend to keep it that way. A Brawler walks near an oil lamp—a great opportunity for me. In my hand, I create a small rock-like shape of Am and throw it toward the oil lamp. It creates a Ripple, catching the attention of the Ascendant. He approaches to investigate the source of the sound and, when he’s close enough, I use my Crush ability to make the oil lamp explode. The Ascendant catches fire and falls to the ground, screaming for help. His screams echo throughout the market, causing the blood of his remaining comrades to run cold. |
"Did you see what happened to him?" asks one of the Ascendants with fear in his eyes. "We’re being hunted down." says another. "Shut up and stay in position! Find the Quaestor, right now!" yells the Rusher. Two down, only three more to go. |

The Ascendants search for me in the market, jabbing at every possible bush and hiding spot. I evade them easily by Peeking, then follow their Shades. I hear one reciting a prayer, demanding protection from me. Another one is shaking as he scans his surroundings. The one that is the most terrified is the Rusher. He’s trying to maintain his composure, but I can see the fear in his eyes. His weapon is drawn, ready to attack. "Watch your back! She could be anywhere. And check behind those crates over there!" He can bark orders all day long, but they won’t find me until I want them too. Now, how should I get rid of these three Ascendants? |
